Figure Drawing From OIC Experiment Day

15 minute sketch. Pencil on cartridge paper

Been almost a decade since i went back to figure drawing session.
Must admit i was a little bit rusty at first, proved to be really good practice.
Here's my take on the figure drawing, hope i don't have to wait long for another session.
Big thanks to Drewscape for organizing the event.

Another Blasted Day

Life can be so mundane sometimes.
Thank you Lee for the invite

Painter X is out

When I saw the advertisement of Painter X, I remembered I did a fun piece last year, with the thought that we wouldn't have anymore upgrade of the software. Well, I guess the developer wouldn't live without one. One good (not essential) upgrade in version 10 is, it has a tool to find the centre of interest within a composition or a canvas. Well, I say it is good but is it worth to get it?

art exhibition at MAAD in april

Artwork title:
Right now: I don’t need anything

The series of works to be featured in April by Xin is a continuation to her debut exhibition Pleased to Meet You at MAAD in February. With a total of 20 ink drawings and paintings, all works were snapped up by 5 buyers within the two days that the exhibition was held. Xin and her exhibition were also featured on Arts Central in March.

I’ve Lost an Ocean depicts the loss of love, but more precisely, the loss of a friend. This series portray scenes from movies that depicted and dealt with similar issues of accepting drastic changes and growing from these experiences. Xin (as she is affectionately known as) chose to use red as the predominant colour throughout the works. Red is used as a color to show love and intimacy as well as guilt and denial. The choice of basic colours used also reflects the rawness and simplicity of human emotions caught in the midst of complex human relationships.

Exhibition will be held at red dot design museum (concurrently with MAAD) on April 7 & 8, 11am - 7pm.

We will be selling our Maki Squarepatch wares there too :) See you!

vikings from valhall

a project i did for a company a couple of months back.
the clients wanted to promote floorball in singapore
so they wanted a male viking and a female viking
cos they are from norway i think.
the venue where this sport is played is called the valhall.

this was the initial sketch for the client to see.

here's his girlfriend

the initial sketch was much sexier but was rejected.
looks like the wind could blow off her G-string...

here's where you can see it online.
