The Pillbox Hat Girl

The Pillbox Hat Girl, Miss Mephis
I find pillbox hats adorable. Modeled after pillboxes of olden times, perching ever so precariously over coiffed hair and did absolutely nothing to provide shade for their wearers. Since pillboxes like that were phased out, the closest thing that I could relate it to would be a cake.

Percieved Flight of the BirdDog
Was invited by Xtra Design via Kelley Cheng ( ISH magazine ) to mod a Magis MeeToo puppy for a charity auction. Really had fun with it inspite of this happening when i was busy with work and prepping for the coming show. Thanks to Fei for assistance, AndyYang for showing me how cool modelling paste can be and my daughter Abi who made the papier mache nose cone!

:Karma Police:
Watching Time
The Karma Police, also affiliated with the Radio head song…keeps time and tabs on our dark imperceptible behavior with scrutiny. It is a lingering entity just like time and it accumulates discreetly our demeanor. In time when Karma matures for its resurgence, the card of wage gets thrown to the deserving. It is by metaphor in some sense of reality.

Tone study

Ink/brush and watercolour. Colours and tones enhanced in photoshop.

Pilot G-tec-c4 pen and watercolour. Colours and tones enhanced in photoshop.
These drawings are part of my study on how to use tones to make a scene work better. Tones as in (if you convert everything to greyscale) light, mid and dark shades. By strategically placing the tones, you can make the objects that you want stand out from each other. eg. a person in a dark suit will stand out better against a ligher toned background. I noticed Jon Foster pays much attention to this in his drawings to much success. Here's a quote from his book "I was taught that if a work wasn't successful in black and white, color would only make it worse. Values come first; details and color later." This is where i've gotten so far. Let's hear some insights from you guys.

TADAHIRO UESUGI. sugosugi!!!
太厲害啦!!!I really really admire Tadahiro Uesugi's illustration. I like the geometric spacing, unique perspective, lighting and wonderful mood created in his art work. I wonder what media he uses... Anyone knows, please?

hohoho

Soon to be printed greeting cards!
Christmas is coming, but really, these can be used for any occassion!
To be sold as a set of three. More details soon!
But for now, I cant really decide if I should add handwritten text just above the heart, or leave it plain, so others can write names or messages to whoever they are giving the card to.
What do you all suggest?

Fabric of feathers

Hi all. Yes still alive, I'm afraid...
Just completed an illustration project in school. Here are some of the pictures I'm most happy with.
Media used were acrylic and Copic Brush-S pen. Compiled and typed on PS.
Love it? Hate it? Would love to hear it. Yoroshiku!
