Trying just using pen and black ink tones on paper. What should i look out for in this technique? Nick Stakal seems to be very good at this style. Comments and advice?
you already have the technique at hand. what I usually do is have this harsh imaginary spot light shining on the subjects in my mind. I think the ink technique employed by Stakal is a traditional Asian style of painting like the Japanese sumi-e. Check out some history here. Awesome. Happy learning!

i think N S has really strong silhouette. And he's bold when define shadowed areas. :D
