Another piece of sketch practice, a scene of air craft take off. Try to make it more desaturated as originally it's more vibrant, which not really focusing the main object.

Shepard Fairey & Obama

In tune with the current Obama fever :D.....

Shepard Fairey is one very lucky artist!!
From skate board artist to "official" Obama portrait artist. He worked on the image on his own ( Not commissioned work ) after hearing Obama's speech and feel that this guy is worth supporting. His popularity increased a million fold after Obama 's success. That one image is now as memorable and captivating as the Che Guevara poster image.
This reminds me that we have to be aware of our surroundings and hopefully what we create is not just beautiful but hopefully a worthy social commentary. ( and take a good look at this article posted by Bella )

Hello

Hello Everyone, This is my first time posting here. I was added to the part-time illustrators list over a year ago. Don't really know what to post, I'm always overwhelmed by the really artistic and original stuff that I see here in OIC. most of my stuff are comic-y in execution style and most of them are inspired by a lot of popular artists. Here's something I did a few months back when I started working on my website revamp...which is finished btw (www.antongustilo.com). Inspired by Masamune Shirow's Apple Seed. Hope y'all like it. :)

Intipati

An idea suddenly gushed in an impulse one night so I sat down, wrote all the breakdowns and started did these pages at night after work every day. I plan to have it not more than 20 pages. Probably around 10 - 15, we'll see. I won't reveal the plot yet, but here are the 1st 3 pages I have done so far:

Rock & Blues

Timbré Festival Club, a five-week long music festival (last year) consisting of gigs held at Timbré. The festival has two genre billings - Rock and Blues. My challenge was to create two distinctive identities that can still be cohesive when used under the umbrella of one festival. The design was inspired by coasters, and deliberately made to look slightly vintage.

my first draft, which i like more than the subsequent ones. The Blues guy is a lot more groovy in this one. However, the blues bands performing at the festivals did not have sax-players. Thus, the organisers were not compleetly comfortable with this.

So i changed the blues guy into a guitar player. But the feedback was that he looks waiter-ish. !!

And i changed his outfit to what the original sax-player was wearing. i added more vintage touch to it all and we went with this.

Water Buffalo's Reward(cover) Children's book

It is a story about a water buffalo learning about the value of
diligence. The story is simple and charming, but with hidden
complexities that will enable parents and teachers to discuss
the story and the underlying value of diligence with children.
The book comes with pointers and fun facts for parents and
teachers.

The series aims to provide a means of exposing children to
various Asian Values through simple yet engaging stories.
Water Buffalo’s Reward, the first book in the series, was launched
on 5 January 2009. The other two books are scheduled to be
launched in April and July respectively.

(Available in hardcover and paperback at Select Books
and all major bookstores)
