OIC SCAVENGER SKETCH-Sqwaking birds in train

This is what I saw, on my way to work this morning.. a bunch of sqwaking birds, I mean kids in the train who just cannot stop talking for a second ..they just go on and on..and it's 9 in morning..sorry for the ranting

Dargerism, my new religion.

Henry Darger, janitor by day, epic novelist and illustrator by night. Illustration superhero who lived in his own fantasy world his whole life.

Although Darger is one of the more famous examples within Art Brut, he remains relatively unknown outside the art world. I only stumbled upon his work when I was researching Jean Dubuffet (edit: thanks boss!).

Obsessively writing a 15 000+ page fantasy novel titled The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion and illustrating scenes within the novel with several hundred drawings and watercolor paintings, he lead a secret double life that no one discovered till the point of his death.

His illustration technique was entirely self-taught, and he often used collage and worked on big compositions measuring anything from 4-12 foot canvases in his cramped apartment. His figures were almost entirely traced from scraps of cut-outs from magazines, newspapers, etc that he scavenged in the dumps, enlarged or shrunk by photocopying to fit his illustrations.

"He started writing at the age of 19 and we don't believe that he stopped until he died at the age of 81. What you're looking at in this photograph is one man's life work. Thirty thousand pages of text comprised of four different manuscripts, a few novels, an autobiography, and then a ten-year project." American Folk Art Museum. © Kiyoko Lerner

Super awesome and completely inspirational la, Henry Darger.

guanyin

Hey guys! Here's an urban take on guanyin, its 1.2m tall and it was my biggest painting ever.

Hi there.~

Hi All. It's nice to be here. :) I'm Ray Toh aka Torei, a local freelance illustrator. I have just converted into a freelancer for about half a year and i'm still trying to get use to whole thing. I have work as a concept artist, background painting artist as well as a 3d texturing and lighting artist before. My last stop is in IFS where i work for two years.

I love to paint and it's nice to be among artists and illustrators. Feel free to comment on my work. :)

Talkingheads

I did this work last year to submit for an art competition, but it was not shortlisted.
Size is 50 by 65 cm, and what I did was essentially wrote down conversations I heard in crowds..and stringed them together..conversations in the trains, cafes and streets..etc.
And you cannot help not to listen as people do not value privacy now, with the mobile phones 24/7.. I can literally tell a stranger's history, from his/her conversation that takes place over the mobile phones. The hi-res version is in my blog.

Jaddyson: Arms 2007

These are the T-shirt designs I did with my friend Addy Tan long time ago. We worked on this project mostly just for fun. The original version actually are in black silkscreen, but we decided to do colour version in the end.

I really love drawing side profiles. A random sketch just before a game of DOTA. Will find time to finish this one.
