New Kid in Town

Hello everyone! Fresh meat :D It's a pressure to keep up with the elites here so I'll make this objective.

My name is Zid. I was introduced to OIC by Mr.B. I'm a painting major fine art graduate from KL now residing in Singapore. I keep a day job as a digital artist in the East Coast to make ends meet since 2 years ago. I have been doing comics all my life, published a couple of series in a number of magazines, and I have a book out last month with Steve Niles, called City of Dust. I record music in my spare time to keep me stimulated.

Work has made me become stagnant and I hope by having this place to exchange ideas or simply interacting with fellow professionals in various discourse will open new doors for me to reshape and re-explore art as what it is supposed to be - fluid.

I'll post some of my other stuff one at a time but for this entry I'll put up my series on Auguste Rodin's Thinker sculpture:

Pleased to meet you!

Don Low:
There's no real secret of the trade frankly, but I'll post something soon on my work in progress :D

AG:
Thanks! Is it because it's darker than the rest?

Zeropointfive:
Got me! I'm heavily influenced by Dave Mckean and Kent Williams!

lol! yes yes! Kent Williams!

i was getting that "Tell Me, Dark" vibe from ur Thinker :D :D :D

I love Dave Mckean too but i can't paint :p so i'm more inspired by his ink renderings!

AG said...

not so much because it's darker, but more from my personal preferences? I like the rendering on rodin's sculpture, and the subtle gradients and the dripping paint effect. the metal surface of the thinker looks very sexy too. :D they work very well together IMO.
