Bollywood illustration

An illustration that was meant for a magazine cover but was used in an interior spread in the end. The brief was to create a Bollywood-like movie poster with some henna influenced elements.

haha yeah had to reference a number of bollywood posters and do the "cheesy" thing. Its interesting in a way.. The original background was even louder, hot green and yellow spirals.

something else to add:

i know it's your thing, so don't take it the wrong way: I know you love to do photo-realistic renderings but it's really refreshing for me to see you back off the fine details a bit and render this piece as looking like a painting instead. Hope to see more exploration into this direction cuz you REALLY have something special going on in this direction heh (eg. old chinese revolution or movie posters) Well done again!

your attention to detail is really admirable.

Actually, zeropointfive, I guess its about the same approach. When I do a painting style illustration I just treat it as a photo-realistic reproduction of a painting, just have to paint in the paper texture and paint strokes. But I know what you mean and I do enjoy doing these. I did consider doing a communist style one a while back too!
