FreshBooks

Thanks Bella for posting this tip! "mf"
A website recommended by a friend (photographer) of mine, it's basically an online database/accounts system for invoicing your freelance work. You can keep a database of clients (free account only limits to 3 clients, a $14/m allows you 25) and you don't have to re-enter the address/name/email/company into your invoices if you're being contracted by the same guy again.

The best part - with a click of the send button in the invoicing page, it generates an automated email that links your client to a webpage of the invoice, and when the client has viewed it, FreshBooks informs you immediately.

Its convenient for those on the fly. You can have your own FreshBooks "webpage". For instance, mine is http://bellagoh.freshbooks.com.

Ramblings on the train and maybe a lil more.

hi, my name is celeste. Michael and Andrew urged me to get out of my rabbit hole.. and here i am, my first entry on this blog after being a member for so long.

Ramblings on the train is a collection of my daily thoughts done pictorially on the way to work. I just had to find my own space and time to indulge a lil in my own ramblings. Clocking long hours for a fulltime gig just makes doodling sessions really precious to me.

You can find more of my sketches, paintings and random drawings at www.celesteanning.com.
And http://www.flickr.com/photos/sugarwanderlust/ to see the world thru my eyes.

Junk Food Benny

mindflyer added: "msxi" just joined oic. If you have seen the magazine "amelia", you would have seen some of her wonderful work. Nice stuff msxi! :)
This series of illustrations sparked off after I arrived in London. I was appalled by the number of fast-food outlets, cafeterias selling ready meals, take-away joints and supermarkets selling shelves of crisps and chocolates. I wrote a dissertation about Britain's food culture and did a visual project based on my dissertation. My series of illustrations,
Junk Food Benny, represents our modern food culture; the food that we buy and way we eat. The girl is an iconic representation consumerism and indulgence of our modern society. The character demonstrates the eating habits of today’s society. I have chosen to choose a child as an symbolic icon because she reflects on ignorance and naivety. She is also an example of what children in Britain today eats. Using a child in my illustration allows me to use her as a reflection of the culture which older generation has passed down.

storyboards

Storyboard visuals I did for a client a couple months back. The style was different from my usual drawing style but it was interesting and enjoyable to do. Pencils on paper first, then scanned and "inked" in photoshop. I guess reading Powers also helped me get used to the film noir kind of look.

Don Low's "Finding Solace" - Mini Gallery Show in Disney

Stumbled upon this in Don's facebook page. A gallery show at Disney where he is currently working.
I love this excerpt-

"When I was thinking of a name for this gallery show just 2 weeks ago, I was reminded of the reason why I love to draw. This passion started out when I was little. Seeing that I like to doodle on the wall, my Dad painted a piece of wall with white paint so I could indulge in the activity on a larger scale. Now I don’t draw on walls anymore (my wife is not agreeable!), but I keep several visual journals with me, filling them up with daily sketches and even thoughts. A sketchbook is always great. A non-threatening place to begin to draw. "

Blessed Don (and Drewscape too, with very supportive parents )- we only get scolding for drawing when we were young :D!! Now I complain when my kids don't draw enough :D!!

The latest visuals for the present IDA campaign. And the initial pencils. The final 3-D rendered posters around town look pretty close. This was done in greyscale first. Then overlayed with colours.
