You said it will be "painted" on a wall- so why do u need to trace in Illustrator?
Some of the swirls and lines need to be curvier, can be nicer.
I always have this phobia of seeing a small sketch blown up big on a wall- somehow it feels different when you see it full size- almost always want to change the line weights.

mindflyer, i traced the picture cos i wanna keep the vector versions. :) noted on swirls. this will be printed on a tranparency and projected on a wall and someone will be painting over it. *fingers crossed!*

yeah, quite simple:
1) drawn mainly with caligraphy pen,
2) scanned the drawings and
3) traced in Adobe Illustrator.
